(More customer reviews)I bought this heater for my daughter's nursery.Her room is always a little colder than the rest of the house and I wanted to add a few degrees with a heater that was extremelly safe for children and absolutely quiet. I wanted a short heater that would be safe in case my child tips it over. Also, this one is small and looks nice in white. This heater did the job, even though I was doubting at first.We got rid of the initial smell by running the heater in the garage at full temperature for one day.This was specified in the instructions, which said that they cover the heater with some protecting layer for shipping. The heater was quiet for many weeks, and then one day starting making some noise.I discovered that it was due to some bubbles that were produced when my daughter tipped it over.The solution was to gently shake the heater a little, which I think removed all bubbles.After that, we haven't had any noise.The most important part is that we set this heater at lower heating, and that is enough to raise the temperature in the room a few degrees.This works very nicely for us because the heater is not too hot to the touch and it safe even if my daughter wants to touch it.In terms of the manual regulation, I think that there are some advantages.Electronic settings tend to break often, so having all manual settings will make for a more durable machine. To set the temperature, you have to wait until you feel the proper temperature has been reached and then lower the thermostat until it clicks.This is not as convinient as just setting a temperature with a number dial, and that is why I give only four stars to this review. On the other hand, sometimes is better to determine the right temperature by how it feels in the room betten than by what the machine says.Finally, regarding the timer setting, we don't use it that much because my husband prefers to unplug the heater when we are not home, but it seemed to me very easy to figure out and quite practical.You can set it every 15 mins on and off and all you have to do is move the little pegs in or out.Very straighforward.

Energy efficient at 400 and 800 watts vs 1500 for a convection heater.
In short, if you:
1) stay pretty much in one spot during the day
2) have high ceilings or your home is really hard to heat
3) have dust allergies
4) use a heater just during your waking hours and pile on the warm blankets at night
5) are not bothered by some light being emitted from your heater
6) have cats or dogs
7) love how it feels when the sun warms up your clothes and skin
8) are concerned about energy efficiency
9) need a heater that won't burn anyone who bumps into it
then this is the space heater for you!

My son used it in the bathroom (or should I say reading room).However, you have to make sure you have an isolated plug as this heater draws the juice. It's nice a quiet. I'd recommend an oil filled heater if you are looking to keep a room warm for a long period of time. This is just a heat-me-up-now type of heater.

(More customer reviews)We needed a supplemental electric space heater for an unheated bedroom in our home that is occasionally used by guests. I selected this model over the Honeywell HZ515 because it has a screen to display the temperature instead of just a selector dial. We own one other electric heater that has a thermostat without a display, and it is much harder on that Delonghi unit for someone to set the temperature without consulting the manual. This heater is quite straightforward to operate in comparison.

If you simply push the power button, the unit will come on at full power and keep heating at full power until you turn it off again.

If you push the power button and then use the up- and down-arrow buttons, you can select a temperature (in Fahrenheit or Celsius) that the unit will attempt to maintain (up to its 1500 W capacity) until you turn it off.

If you push power, then use the arrows to select a temperature, and then push the timer button (and use the arrows to increase/decrease the amount of time), the heater will run as much as needed to keep the heat to the pre-selected temperature for the amount of time you've selected. I believe the maximum is 10 hours--enough for overnight use.

For me, this offers some extra peace of mind. I can set this heater for a guest (or tell them how to do it) and not feel the need to check up on them in the morning to be sure the heater has been turned off.

Two other features on this heater are superior to those on my Delonghi Mica Panel heater:
* the Honeywell HZ519 has a 5 year warranty (vs. Delonghi's 1 year)
* the Honeywell HZ519 has athree prong power cord (vs. Delonghi's 2 prong plug)

SPT SH-1509 Pedestal Ceramic Heater Review

(More customer reviews)I've been using this tower heater/fan since October and I've had a fairly good experience. It's basically the taller version of the "SPT SH-1508 Tower Ceramic Heater with Ionizer." The SH-1508 was too short for my tall bed and adding an extra foot to the height in the SH-1509 made is ideal. It heats up my mid size room pretty well.

When I first got this product it looked like it was in good condition (the box definitely wasn't though). But it seems that there's a little bit of blurred area on the front inside of the remote control signal receptor. But that area is a black background with a red light covered by the transparent plastic so I can't really tell the blurred plastic cover anymore unless I look closely.

The fan was very quiet when I first got it. I am a very light sleeper and even the smallest sounds can wake me up, and I slept through fine when the heater went off. However, about a couple weeks ago, I noticed that the fan, when especially oscillating, makes a vibrating noise. Pretty unfortunate since it makes the fan noisey now - I might have to take it apart to see if anything came loose.

Besides those two things, I really have no complaints except the shape of the heater itself. It's not symmetrical as I expect most products to be. It's really not a big deal but it might bother the odd ones like myself.

PROS:
- Tall
- Multiple settings: High, Low, Fan (although very week) and Auto (I always use this setting - heater is set to go off when the adjustable temperature is reached)
- Quiet
- Remote control - this is one of the best features
- Neat and clear blue screen
- Space-efficient

CONS:
- Wasn't in 100% prestine condition when I first got it.
- Something came loose and now makes a vibrating noise only after 2 months of use.
- Fan is weak - I can't feel any cool air unless I'm directly in front of it.

Overall, I would recommend that other people who don't want a stubby heater like the SH-1508 should get the SH-1509. It's pretty much the same fan around the same price but taller. If it weren't for the vibrating noise that suddenly happened, I'd give it five stars.

(More customer reviews)The 1000W version of this product worked great at first, but over time, this particular product line of Soleus Air Micathermic heaters will lose their ability to heat over time.Advertised at 1000 Watts, now, after 1 year, is 478 Watts, and loses wattage each day it's used.This means it's outputting less and less heat.I'm sure that this 1500 Watt version will produce the same results over time.

I submitted a claim to Soleus Air and they have not resolved the problem - they only gave some explanation thinking they were right, but I sent them more details of the problem and they have not responded for over 1 month.Looking up my case number on their site, they consider this case resolved.It is not.

This is product is faulty and you won't get any reimbursements, so be careful, and buy a different brand, or a different heating technology like ceramic.

I will not ever buy a Soleus Air product again - I do not want to support their company in producing poor quality products with poor customer support.
