(More customer reviews)I have used this type of product for many years, never this brand. This one has doubled my electric bill and keeps the water at > 40F. It is not low profiled as advertised, and stays on much of the time, even when the temperature is >45F I contacted the company and they were very uncooperative. I would highly discourage anyone from purchasing this product.

(More customer reviews)If you set this heater on high it will give you way too much heat for one bathroom, unless it is a bigger than average bathroom.I initially used it in my bedroom, but again, too much heat, so I now use it on the stair landing, which is open to below and it still manages to warm-up the space without the heat concentrating too much -I don't like warm spaces, I'm just looking the tone-down the cold, and this does the job very nicely... but I've gotten the same results from heaters a lot less expensive than this.

Two things to consider: it is NOT "quiet operation". The fan is actually pretty noisy I can hear it all the way down to the kitchen, when it's on I put on music to drown the fan sound.
Secondly, unless you screw it onto the wall, it will come off just by the fan vibration, and forget trying to use a hairdryer or any other appliance using the extra outlet, the hardware to hold it in place is just too flimsy.Since I don't want it as a permanent fixture, I found my own way to hold it in place (using an outlet cover -this actually works better the hardware provided) but I still put my left hand on it when I turn it on or off to keep it from jumping off the wall.

(More customer reviews)I needed the temperature in my baby's room to stay the same even though we're in a small apartment. This really did the trick. It looks great is very compact compared to other ugly large heater humidifiers AND it is both a heater and humidifier so even when it warms up in there it does feel so dry. It also has a tip over feature, which or safety is great. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is I wish you could operate the humidifer separate from the heater but you can't. Can't have it all I guess. Oh, and we have a modern looking apartment and this fits right in!

SPT SH-1509 Pedestal Ceramic Heater Review

(More customer reviews)I've been using this tower heater/fan since October and I've had a fairly good experience. It's basically the taller version of the "SPT SH-1508 Tower Ceramic Heater with Ionizer." The SH-1508 was too short for my tall bed and adding an extra foot to the height in the SH-1509 made is ideal. It heats up my mid size room pretty well.

When I first got this product it looked like it was in good condition (the box definitely wasn't though). But it seems that there's a little bit of blurred area on the front inside of the remote control signal receptor. But that area is a black background with a red light covered by the transparent plastic so I can't really tell the blurred plastic cover anymore unless I look closely.

The fan was very quiet when I first got it. I am a very light sleeper and even the smallest sounds can wake me up, and I slept through fine when the heater went off. However, about a couple weeks ago, I noticed that the fan, when especially oscillating, makes a vibrating noise. Pretty unfortunate since it makes the fan noisey now - I might have to take it apart to see if anything came loose.

Besides those two things, I really have no complaints except the shape of the heater itself. It's not symmetrical as I expect most products to be. It's really not a big deal but it might bother the odd ones like myself.

PROS:
- Tall
- Multiple settings: High, Low, Fan (although very week) and Auto (I always use this setting - heater is set to go off when the adjustable temperature is reached)
- Quiet
- Remote control - this is one of the best features
- Neat and clear blue screen
- Space-efficient

CONS:
- Wasn't in 100% prestine condition when I first got it.
- Something came loose and now makes a vibrating noise only after 2 months of use.
- Fan is weak - I can't feel any cool air unless I'm directly in front of it.

Overall, I would recommend that other people who don't want a stubby heater like the SH-1508 should get the SH-1509. It's pretty much the same fan around the same price but taller. If it weren't for the vibrating noise that suddenly happened, I'd give it five stars.

(More customer reviews)I recently moved into a house that had an exceptional heating system except in the master bedroom (probably due to a large French door).Didn't see the logic in heating the whole empty house just to keep one room warm, I started to look for a suitable heater. Upon some search, Vornado DVH surfaced as a viable option.Although pricier than other models, if it did what it claims to do (even warmth, quietness, safe to kids' touch, and good control) I thought the product would be ideal for my family needs.
While searching for the best price, I came to read the ratings by others on the Amazon site, and it was disturbing for me to see that there was a noticeable disparity among the raters (please look through the reviews and see for yourselves-5 to 1 star).But it sounded great at least for those who had them in working condition, so I decided to give it a try, knowing that there is a chance that I might get the bad apple.
Well, I have been using the unit for a while now and I have to tell you that it is worth MORE than its weight in gold!!! It is quite; temperature control is dead accurate; heating is impressively even throughout the room; and it really doesn't get hot at all to the touch; and even looks cool. I have occasional circuit breaker tripping when I use hair drier in the bathroom connected to the same room, but Vornado has not tripped the circuit not even once, even though I usually have it run at 78F when I use it (basically all night).
I'm sure others' claims on defective products are valid.But if you are unsure whether to give it a try because of those reviews like I was a few weeks ago, I strongly recommend you give this product a try. Even if you end up with a defective product like others claim, if you can get a good one after exchange (and get something like what I got), it is worth the trouble-and believe me I'm an extremely lazy person when it comes to product exchanges...
I only write this review because I wished that I had something like this to help my decision making. Hope it helps you.

(More customer reviews)I purchase this product from DIYcontrols a few weeks ago. The product comes with an on line installation guide and video for the product that are very helpful. When I had additional questions that the plumber needed to know prior to installation, DIYcontrols responded rapidly.For my particular water heater the copper pipes are soldered together and attach to the heater, which meant that I needed to buy a union, as well as male and female ends that could be connected to the devise and soldered to the existing pipe.
The first device arrived defective and the valve would not close; unfortunately, I already had a plumber at the house to install the device and DIYcontrols does not have effective weekend support, so I had the plumber leave. The following Monday Scott Walker from ONSITE PRO, the manufactor of the device, called me to find out what happened and was very appologetic and said that he would send me out a new one ASAP, which he did.
The new device worked exactly as advertised and the plumber was able to install it in a little over an hour without any difficulty.
I would rate the custer service at ONSITE Pro and integrity of their workers as outstanding.
In regard to the device, I recommend to plug it in prior to having a plumber come by the ensure it is functioning correctly; however, from most of the other reviews from other sites the valve sticking does not appear to be a normal issue so it shouldn't be a worry. If you are afraid of the valve sticking, either in the open or closed position due to the motor malfunction, there is a manual override so that the valve can be opened.
My plumber was impressed at the quality of the product and I think that having it is a great idea to prevent costly water damage.
